On the second day of our trip to China, my best friend, Katie, and I got the opportunity to take a walking tour on the GREAT WALL OF CHINA all by ourselves. It was an absolutely surreal experience to be able to experience one of the 7 wonders of the world without any other tourists around.

After a 2 hour drive from our hotel in Beijing, our tour guide dropped us off at a pretty remote part of the Great Wall of China. This part of the Great Wall was in a valley that was dotted with small villages, but there wasn’t a tourist in sight. Our tour guide took us up to the top of the wall, pointed us in a direction along the wall, and said, “I will meet you on the other side of the mountain.”

That allowed Katie and I to hike on the Great Wall of China alone for around 3 hours. It was incredibly quiet, with the only noise being firecrackers from the valley below (the next day was Chinese New Year)? It was an UNbelievable experience, and definitely one of the best moments of my life so far.
