On this episode of the China Series, we travel south from Beijing to Suzhou, where we visit the beautiful small town of Tongli. Come along as we take a lovely boat tour of a canal and wander the quiet streets.
Suzhou is often called the Venice of the East because of the canals that wind through the streets of the city. Located just outside of Shanghai, Suzhou is the perfect spot for a day trip for anyone visiting the area. A day trip to Tongli, an ancient Chinese water town, is the perfect way to get a sense of the more traditional side of China, compared to the bustling modern metropolis of Shanghai.
If you are ever traveling in China, we would highly suggest making a stop in Suzhou!
